The dividing line is where the class happens. Thinkific is built to sell and deliver what you teach; the teaching itself happens somewhere else, so the record that took the payment never learns whether the student turned up. Is the course builder as good as Thinkific's?
It's drag-drop with the same lesson types (video, text, PDF, quiz, download) plus inline embeds for common design tools and slide decks. Most teams find parity by the second course they recreate.
What about my custom student app / branding?

Does live class recording attach to a lesson?
