Connect your Stripe account
Stripe is the first payment account Prolaud offers. You paste your own Stripe secret key on the Payouts page, we verify it and set up the webhook, and from then on students pay by card in US dollars straight into your Stripe account.

Connecting Stripe is a key paste, not a sign-in button: you copy a secret key from your Stripe dashboard and paste it into Prolaud. It takes a couple of minutes if you already have a Stripe account.
Before you start
- A Stripe account. Stripe verifies your business and bank details itself when you create one; Prolaud is not part of that.
- Admin access to your Prolaud workspace.
Connect it
- In your dashboard, open Payouts. With nothing connected yet, the first card is Connect Stripe to get paid, and its form is already open. (If you already use Razorpay, click Connect Stripe on the Stripe card to open the form.)
- In another tab, sign in to Stripe and open Developers → API keys. The card links straight to that page.
- Reveal the secret key — it starts with sk_live_ — and paste it into the Stripe secret key field.
- Publishable key is optional. Paste it if you have it to hand; it starts with pk_live_.
- Click Verify & connect. Prolaud checks the key with Stripe before saving anything.
- You should see “Stripe connected — webhook set up automatically. You can now accept payments.”
What the card shows once you're connected
- Stripe, with a green Connected badge and your Stripe account ID.
- Webhook verified — Stripe will tell Prolaud when a payment succeeds or is refunded. If it reads Webhook not set up, checkout still works but refunds and other updates from Stripe may not sync; use the support box at the bottom of the Payouts page and we will sort it out with you.
- Below the card, International earnings (USD): the total received and your recent payments, pulled live from your Stripe account, with a View on Stripe link.
Trying it without real money
A Stripe test key (it starts with sk_test_) is accepted too. Connect it, buy your own course with one of Stripe's test cards, then click Disconnect and connect again with your live key when you are ready to sell.
What works on Stripe
- One-time course sales.
- One-time storefront products.
- Payment plans, with each installment collected automatically from the buyer's card.
- Memberships and other subscription products — billed in US dollars, renewed automatically until the buyer cancels; canceling keeps access to the end of the period already paid for.
- Payment links sent to individual students, for courses priced in dollars.
- Refunds, from Storefront → Orders.
A paid link follows the course's currency: a dollar-priced course is charged through Stripe, a rupee-priced one through Razorpay. So if you are connected to Stripe alone, a course priced in rupees needs a dollar price before you can send paid links for it.
Currency and fees
Stripe charges are in US dollars, by card. Stripe deducts its standard processing fee from each payment and pays the rest to your bank on the payout schedule in your Stripe dashboard. Prolaud takes 0%. The bottom of the Payouts page links to Stripe's pricing for the exact, current rate.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect on the Stripe card. You will see “Stripe disconnected. Checkout through Stripe is now off.” Nobody loses access to a course they already have; new buyers simply cannot pay through Stripe until a key is connected again.
- Is there a one-click “Connect with Stripe” button?
- No. Connecting Stripe means pasting your secret key from Developers → API keys in your Stripe dashboard. Prolaud verifies the key and sets up the webhook for you.
- Stripe rejected my key. What now?
- “Stripe rejected this secret key” means the key is wrong, revoked or incomplete. Copy the whole secret key again — it starts with sk_live_ or sk_test_ — and check it is not the publishable key, which starts with pk_.
- Can I connect both Stripe and Razorpay?
- Yes. They are independent, and either one is enough to start selling. Razorpay is the option for academies in India.
- Which currency are students charged in?
- US dollars on Stripe. The price you type on a course is charged as typed; nothing is converted.
- Does Prolaud see or hold my money?
- No. A payment goes from the student to your Stripe account and then to your bank. Prolaud never holds the funds and takes 0%.
