Storefront

The public, buyable face of an academy: the pages where a visitor browses courses and other products, and pays, without logging in first.

A storefront is not the same as a course catalogue. It carries the things an academy sells — courses, downloads, memberships, one-to-one sessions, bundles — with prices, a cart or a direct checkout, coupons, and the pages a buyer reads before deciding.

Its job is to turn a visitor into a student without a sales call, which is why the checkout's payment methods matter as much as the design: in India, a storefront that cannot take UPI is a storefront that loses most of its buyers.

For example

A parent taps a WhatsApp link, reads a course page, sees ₹4,500, pays by UPI and gets access — without ever creating an account first. The account is created by the purchase, not before it. Every step that asks a stranger to sign up before they know what they are buying is a step some of them will not take.

On Prolaud

Every academy gets a storefront on its own subdomain or custom domain, with UPI, cards and netbanking through the academy's own Razorpay account, and USD card payments through its own Stripe account.

Related terms

  • Custom domainServing your academy from a web address you own (school.com) instead of the platform's (school.platform.com). The pages are the same; who they appear to belong to is not.
  • Payment gatewayThe service that collects a payment from a buyer and settles it to a business's bank account, handling cards, UPI, netbanking and wallets — Razorpay, Stripe, PayU and Cashfree are examples.
  • Zero commissionA pricing model where the platform charges a flat subscription and takes no percentage of sales. The payment gateway's own fee still applies, because that is charged by the gateway, not the platform.
