Paid communities

The community that pays the bills.

A real paid community — recurring subscription, a member feed with topic channels, post types, reactions, @-mention autocomplete, and Q&A with accepted answers. Live AMAs, a leaderboard that rewards participation, Top Contributors, a Q&A inbox. On your URL. Zero commission on what you collect.

The Insights tab of a paid cohort: posts this week, median reply time of 40 minutes, 63% of members active in the last 14 days, a posts-per-week bar chart, and a top-contributors leaderboard.
Insights — who is actually showing up
A cohort's Common Room: a Spaces sidebar with Announcements, General, Q&A, Wins, Resources and Off-topic; filter chips counting 36 posts; a rich-text composer with Announcement, Question, Win and Chat post types; and a pinned announcement with two threaded replies.
The Common Room of a live cohort — spaces down the side, post types in the composer, threads under every post.

What you actually want

Three things this needs to do.

Recurring revenue, gated content

Memberships create a subscription wall around your community feed, live AMAs, and bundled downloads.

A real feed — not a Discord channel

Topic channels, post types, threaded comments, @-mention autocomplete, reactions on posts + comments, Q&A with accepted answers, pinned/featured posts, and a Top Contributors board. Built for paying members.

Live + recordings included

AMAs, office hours, monthly group calls — LiveKit rooms with recordings posted to the same feed.

A student's physics question marked Answered, with two threaded replies underneath and a Re-open control, followed by a post tagged Win.
Questions get an accepted answer. Wins get their own post type.

How it maps

Every job above — one workspace.

Each capability below ships in the free Starter tier. Pro+ unlocks custom domain, white-label, and team seats.

The Communities index showing three separate communities — a Faculty room marked staff-only, an Alumni circle, and an active JEE Mains cohort with 8 members and 36 posts — each with its own cover, member count and post count.
One workspace, separate rooms — a cohort, an alumni circle, a private staff room.

vs the alternative

Why not just use Discord + Patreon?

You can. Here’s where the trade-off lands.

Where your members live
Prolaud: Your URL, in your brand, in your roster
Discord + Patreon: Discord's URL, Discord's brand — Patreon owns the billing
Commission on subscription
Prolaud: Zero. Members pay into your own payment account.
Discord + Patreon: Patreon takes 10% of what you earn, plus payment processing (as of October 2026); Discord perks are a separate purchase
Member roster ownership
Prolaud: Exportable CSV/JSON any day — your data, your relationship
Discord + Patreon: Your members sit in two companies' accounts, and neither list is your roster
The member directory of a cohort: eight members in cards with their post counts, a search box, an active-this-week count, and Bulk invite and Add students buttons.
Your roster, in your workspace — searchable, countable, exportable.

Questions

Is this a real community feed or just a chat room?

It is a structured feed: topic channels, post types, threaded comments, reactions on posts and comments, @-mention autocomplete, and questions that get an accepted answer. Pinned posts and a Top Contributors board sit on top.

Can I charge a recurring subscription for access?

Yes. A membership puts a subscription wall around the feed, live AMAs and any bundled downloads, billed monthly, quarterly or yearly with trials. Payments settle to your own payment account with zero commission taken.

Can I export my member list if I ever move on?

Yes. The roster is yours and exports to CSV or JSON on any day, including the contact details. The member directory is searchable and shows post counts and who has been active this week.

What does the free plan cover?

The free Starter plan covers your first cohort and your first few members, which is enough to open a paid community and see whether it holds. The paid plans add room for more members, a custom domain and white-labeling when you outgrow that.
