Create a whiteboard
To create a whiteboard, open Whiteboards in the sidebar and click New board. Pick a template or start blank, and the board opens ready to draw on. It saves by itself, and only you can see it until you decide to share it.

Create a whiteboard
- Open Whiteboards in the left sidebar.
- Click New board at the top right. The New board tile at the start of your list does the same thing, and so does pressing n on your keyboard.
- In Start a new whiteboard, click the template you want. To begin with an empty canvas, click Start blank instead.
- The board opens. Start drawing: there is nothing to save, it saves as you go.
Template or blank?
A template gives you a layout that is already drawn, such as a lesson plan, a brainstorm, a weekly schedule or a SWOT grid, so you fill it in instead of drawing boxes first. There are eighteen, and you can search them by name or filter by subject. Start blank instead gives you an empty infinite canvas.
Who can see a new whiteboard
A new whiteboard is private: only you can open it. To show it to your class, open the board and click the Private pill at the top; it changes to Public and anyone in your workspace can open the board. Click it again to make the board private.
Rename or delete a whiteboard
A new board is named after its template, or Whiteboard with the date and time if you started blank. You rename and delete boards from the Whiteboards list. A deleted board can be brought back with Undo straight after you delete it.
- Do I have to save a whiteboard?
- No. A whiteboard saves by itself as you draw.
- Can my students see a whiteboard as soon as I create it?
- No. A new whiteboard is private. Students see it only after you switch it to Public or invite them.
- Is there a keyboard shortcut for a new whiteboard?
- Yes. On the Whiteboards page, press n.
