# Your Communities wall: post, react, vote and reply in one click

> Communities opens on the wall: every post from your communities, newest first, with the box to write in at the top. Reading takes no click. Posting, reacting, voting in a poll and replying each take one. This guide shows the wall from both sides — what you see as the teacher, and what your students see on a laptop and on a phone.

## What you see as the teacher

![The teacher's Communities wall: the list of communities on the left, the Needs you strip and the writing box in the middle, the leaderboard on the right](https://prolaud.com/help/community-wall/01-teacher-wall.png)

*Communities, as the teacher: your communities on the left, the wall in the middle, the academy's leaderboard on the right.*

- Left: Create, Feed (every community together), and each of your communities. A green dot means people wrote there this week, amber means it has been quiet for over a week. The gear opens that community's settings. New community is at the bottom.
- Middle: Needs you (questions nobody has answered yet, and posts held for review), the box to write in, then the posts. Choose what to see under Showing (All posts, Announcements, Questions, Wins, Unanswered, Held for review) and how to order it under Sort by (Latest or Most active).
- Right: the academy's leaderboard — All time, Week and Month. It is the same board your students see, one board for the whole academy.
- The side menu starts folded on Communities, to give the wall room. Press the button at the top of the menu to open it; it stays the way you leave it, on Communities.
- The cards for managing communities are one click away, under All communities.

> **Note:** Click a community on the left to see only its posts; click Feed to see them all again. The choice is in the page's address, so a reload or a link you share keeps it.

## Who can join, and the price

Every community has one line at the top of its page: Who can join. Press Change and pick one of five: Free for all my students (anyone in your academy joins from Communities), Free with a course (students are added when they enrol on the courses you tick), Paid (a price, once or every month or year), Free sign-up page (anyone, even people who aren't your students yet, joins free from a page you share), or Only people I invite (you add people, or share a private link). You choose the same thing when you make a community.

![A community's page with the Who can join line: Paid · ₹499 a month, with Sales page, Copy link and Change, and a note to connect payments](https://prolaud.com/help/community-wall/10-who-can-join.png)

*Paid: the price, the sales page, Copy link — and a reminder until payments are connected.*

Choosing Paid or Free sign-up page makes the community's sales page for you, with its name, words and cover picture, and publishes it in your shop — Storefront is turned on for you if it was off (it is free). Copy link gives you the address to share. Until you connect a payment account, the line says people can't pay yet, with Set up payments. Change the price any time; it is the same page. Moving to a free choice takes the page down — everyone who bought keeps their place.

*When you make a community, choose who can join — and the price — in the same step.*

## Write a post: words, photos, a video or a poll

![The writing box open with a poll: the community and space chosen at the top, the kind of post, the question and three answers](https://prolaud.com/help/community-wall/02-teacher-poll.png)

*Writing a poll. At the top: which community and which space it goes in.*

1. Click Share something with the community… — or one of the buttons under it: Photo, Video, Poll or Question.
2. Check where it goes: the community and the space. On the Feed it starts on the community you last wrote in.
3. Choose the kind of post: Discussion, Question, Win or Announcement. Announcements are for teachers only.
4. Write. Type @ and a name to tag someone — they are told.
5. Add up to six photos with Photo, paste a YouTube, Vimeo or Loom link with Video, or add a question and two to six answers with Poll (tick “People can pick more than one” if they may).
6. Press Post. Everyone in the community is told, in the app; your posts are emailed to them too.

## What a student sees

![A student's Communities on a phone: Posts and Leaderboard tabs, the community's banner, and the writing box](https://prolaud.com/help/community-wall/04-student-phone-wall.png)

*On a phone: the community opens straight away, with Posts and Leaderboard as two tabs.*

- A student in one community lands straight on it. In several, they see all of them together, and choose one from the row of names at the top.
- The box to write in is open and ready. Instead of choosing a kind of post, students tick This is a question when they are asking one.
- Communities they could join (open ones) are listed with a Join button — one click.
- On a phone the leaderboard is the second tab, Leaderboard. On a laptop it is beside the wall.

*On a laptop the student's side menu also starts folded on Communities.*

## React, vote and reply — one click each

- React: press an emoji under the post. Press it again to take it back.
- Vote: press an answer in a poll. The percentages show straight away; press another answer to change your vote. Teachers and moderators see how a poll is going without voting.
- Reply: press Reply (or “Write a reply…” under the two newest replies) and type — the cursor is already in the box.
- Long posts show the first part with See more.
- New posts while you read: if you have scrolled down, they wait behind a new posts button instead of pushing what you are reading down the page.
- Search: once a community has ten posts or more, a search box appears above them.

## Share a post, and a post's own page

![A single post on its own page with its reply thread and the box to reply](https://prolaud.com/help/community-wall/09-post-page.png)

*A post's own page: the whole post, every reply, the box to reply, and the way back to the community.*

Share under a post copies that post's own link (on a phone it opens the phone's share sheet). Anyone in the community who opens it sees the post on a page of its own, with all its replies. The time on a post (“1 minute ago”) opens the same page. Notices about a post or a reply — in the bell and in email — open it too. Someone who is not in the community is told so; a post that was deleted says it is not there any more.

## Repost a post

Repost under a post shares it again on the wall. Choose Repost to share it as it is, or Repost with your thoughts to add a line of your own above it. The original sits inside your repost with its writer's name, and opens the original post when tapped; its writer is told you shared it. A post from an open community can be reposted into another community you belong to (pick it under Post it in); a post from a closed community can only be reposted inside that community, so it never reaches people who aren't in it. A post that is waiting for approval or held for review can't be reposted.

## Find what you saved

Save post (in a post's ⋯ menu) keeps it for later. Everything you saved is under Saved on the left of the Communities page, with a count beside it — on a community's own page it shows what you saved there. Saved posts follow you to any device you sign in on.

## Pin, spotlight, hold for review, delete

![The ⋯ menu on a student's post, as the teacher sees it](https://prolaud.com/help/community-wall/03-teacher-post-menu.png)

*The ⋯ menu on a student's post, as the teacher.*

- Pin to top keeps a post above the others in its community.
- Spotlight gives a post a highlighted card and tells its writer.
- Hold for review hides a post from everyone except you, its writer and your moderators, until you put it back. Nothing is lost.
- Mark answered on a question (the person who asked can do this too), or Mark as answer on the reply that answered it.
- Delete removes the post for everyone, with its replies. Only a teacher, or the person who wrote it, can delete.
- Make … a moderator — see the next guide.

## Questions

Is a post saved if two people write at the same moment? Yes. Each post, reply, reaction and vote is saved on its own, so nobody's writing replaces anybody else's.

Can students post in Announcements? No. On Announcements a student sees “Only teachers post in Announcements” instead of the writing box.

Can students make polls? Not at the moment: polls are for teachers and moderators. Everyone can vote.
