## Reading a cohort grid

Each row is a group of learners who joined in the same month; each column is how many were still active 1, 4, 12 and 24 weeks later. Reading down a column tells you whether retention is improving cohort over cohort; reading across a row tells you when a given intake drops off. LTV (lifetime value) sits alongside, computed from real order history — gross revenue per learner over their lifetime.

## Why it matters

Acquisition gets the attention, but retention and LTV decide whether a teaching business compounds. If a cohort melts away by week 4, that's a content or onboarding fix; if LTV is healthy, you can afford to spend more to acquire. The grid turns 'are people sticking around?' into a number you can act on.

## Common questions
