# Custom domain

A custom domain is what makes an academy look like a business rather than a page on someone else's service. It also means the SEO value of everything published accrues to an address you keep if you ever move platform.

It is set up by pointing a DNS record at the platform, which then issues an HTTPS certificate for the name. Nothing about the content changes.
